Objectives Providing health care for women requires a comprehensive approach that includes contributions from family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and internal medicine, among others. Objectives of this course are designed to cover the spectrum of women’s health and to broaden the primary care provider’s approach to management and treatment decisions. Selected topics will allow the participants to entertain new ways of thinking, therapeutic approaches, and technologic advances in the evolving role of the primary care provider in the care of women. Plenary sessions cover topics of broad interest. The smaller group sessions focus on topics of special interest and provide a forum for interaction and discussion among participants and the facilitator. During case study workshops participants are invited to present cases from their own practice for discussion. •This year’s plenary sessions will address hormone replacement therapy, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, thyroid disease, and endometrial and breast cancer. •Focused smaller group topics include: integrative medicine, issues of the female athlete, motivating women to become more active, bio-identical hormones, risk management, and others. Participants can also choose obstetrical update sessions which will cover obstetric protocols in use at the University of Michigan, elective C-section and maternal mortality in Michigan. •Other workshops will explore in detail issues raised during the plenary sessions.
